Spanish alt rockers Lancaster, have a healthy following in their homeland and are looking to expand their reach and appeal. It has to be said that in a competitive genre dominated by Brits and American bands it's a bold move, but it's a genuine contender with some fun and very punchy tracks.
Billed as pitching to fans of Young Guns and Mallory Knox you can feel the ambition.
It's a complete 10 track album, though one is a retro "interlude" which is a little indulgent for a new band. That said the rest of the tracks are great, and play for the majority of an hour. It's a pleasing guitar led loud and proud tilt at the UK's taste buds which was intriguing enough to tempt me to a second play and by the third it felt like a radio friendly favourite.
Young Blood, Runaway & Thorns are the solid spine of a quite accomplished set which should play very well live. Give it a go and decide for yourself, but Spain might be about to make a rockier impact here than usual.
‘Journeys’ is self-released worldwide on 17th November 2014. More details via facebook
