Take a Bow - iNCH
- News
Singaporean artist iNCH will release her new EP, Letters To Ubin, on 2nd September on House Of Riot records and she has shared new single, "Breakbone", from the record.
Of the single, iNCH had to say, "The word "breakbone" comes from the term Breakbone fever. While I was living on the remote island of Pulau Ubin, I lived next to a cemetery. It's a very calm, serene place, and naturally, you ponder about the death while you feed the tropical mosquitoes. These two things, made me think about a "friend" of mine that passed away from dengue fever. You see, if someone you loved and cared for passed away, the grieving process is pretty straightforward. It sucks, you love them, and you'll miss them. But if someone you didn't have a great relationship with passed on, the grieving process is much more complicated. I still bore a grudge and never got to say goodbye, and this song was a way for me to let go. The producer, Evan Low & I sampled sounds from the island and wanted to recreate my moment of struggling with forgiveness. My personal favourite moment of the song is the flugelhorn solo. It took us a while to find someone as specific as a flugelhorn player, but it was all worth it. Why a flugelhorn? Well, in the military, I've been told that the flugelhorn is the choice instrument used to salute a fallen comrade."
Written during a 4-month stint in a Kampong house on the rustic Ubin Island, Letters To Ubin follows iNCH's 2013, full-length album, Bumfuzzle. Take a listen to 'Breakbone' below.
