GM07: A Scottish Indie Sampler is out on Friday
- News
Well bargain of the week is18 tracks from Fuzzkill, Number4Door, Crater Cove, Good Grief, Soft Power & GoldMold Records on GMO7 which is an indie delight and acknowledgment of the fine music from north of the border at present.
GM07 is a collaborative compilation, put together to showcase some of the music that's been put out by Scottish independents over the last few years. Six Scottish indies have joined forces for a limited edition cassette release that you can pre-order via Bandcamp for release on 14th August.
Goldmold Records is the lead label for the release and they had this to say, We started GoldMold simply to share good music, and were inspired to do that by these labels and some of these artists. It's been a pleasure to work on a release in conjunction with them and we hope you check them and their releases out if you're not already familiar.
A massive thank you to Cameron Orr for providing the artwork for this release among others. He's the single biggest contributor to GoldMold and is responsible for just about every aspect of the labels aesthetic. He's the man. See more of his artwork HERE

DECEMBER
To coincide with the release of Mirrors singer Jon McClure releases a book of his lyrics and poetry, illustrated by Horace Panter from The Specials, The Lyrics and Poetry of Jon McClure with Illustrations by Horace Panter. The book features every lyric from Reverend & The Makers as well as poems including Jon McClure’s collaboration with John Cooper Clark. An exclusive sample of the book is available from the band's webstore
Jon McClure adds “Ed (guitarist and fellow songwriter) and I became resolute to make a record that we loved. Why not indulge the overwhelming urge to not play games anymore and set about making some art we are actually proud of rather than the release tour festivals repeat cycle we’d been on since forever. And so we took the files we’d been diligently recording off to Jamaica and spruced them up a bit whilst making a film. The result is the best thing we’ve ever done in my opinion. The reaction when I play it to people is like nothing I’ve seen before, except maybe the first album.”
