Introducing Head Over Heart

News

The very sweet Tucson based pop dreamers, Head over Heart, have released their latest video for the head in the clouds single, "I Don't Mind."

"I Don't Mind" centers around a particularly disenfranchised city-dweller, detached from their angst through self-medication and emotional denial," explains co-songwriter Jordan Prather. This person abuses drugs in a vain attempt to cope as well as to fix the relationship problems that are being experienced. The significant other in this story is often conflicted about everything and blames their current problems on their past experiences and childhood. Some of the lyrics have dual meanings regarding the singer's perspective on the failing relationship versus their own drug addiction; sweet melody alongside dark lyrics; our favorite pairing!"

Jason Willis, the video's director, elaborates: "The inspiration came about pretty organically. The music felt so otherworldly and dreamy that when I first heard the song and closed my eyes, I kept seeing images of falling stars and cloudscapes, but then the lyrics deal with failing romance, escapism and self-delusion! So it all set up an interesting juxtaposition that felt like a surreal and highly personal fantasy to me.

Coco Rosie return with a new album on their own label.

News

Bianca and Sierra Casady otherwise known as Coco Rosie release their promising new album Heartache City on 13th November via their own label Lost Girl Records. This follows albums for City Slang, Sub Pop and Touch & Go. The Vinyl will come out later in the year.

"This will be our sixth record! Like many of our past records, we wrote and gathered much of the material at our farm studio in the south of France with minimal equipment, vintage toys and antique instruments. Going back to a '4-track' style approach, we limited ourselves to essential, acoustic accompaniment, played by us, and select percussion, toys from our old suit cases dating back to the 'La Maison' days.

Unlike our more psychedelic/electronic explorations of the last two records, our latest songs have a dusty southern feel with old-timey poetry. We ended up in Argentina where we finished the recordings and mixed the record with engineer Nicolas Kalwillwith whom we've worked on two previous records. The spirit of Buenos Aires added to our already teen-romance-nostalgic-mood where we spontaneously shot a music video casting over 30 local girls."

The band headline a Sold Out ATP promoted show next Wednesday 14th October at Village Underground, so let's hope there are some more dates soon.

Zrazy - The Art of Happy Accidents

Album Reviews

This is a nice all moods record from Irish band Zrazy made with a style that makes it just the nicest album to listen to, chill to, drive to and cook to; ("Classic Zrazy has a rolled shape and is made of thin slices of beef, which is flavoured with salt and pepper and stuffed with vegetables, mushrooms, eggs, and potato" ) apparently!

Musicianship is excellent and the music covers all corners of the spectrum; pop, soul, jazz, blues and sprinkled electronica. The first two songs 'Forgiven' and 'You make Me Happy' are chill zone specials. The songs centre on relationships, love, hope and regret and as with all those emotions, the music shifts styles to cope with the changing mood of Carole's lyrics.

The band is based around the core duo of Maria Walsh and Carole Nelson  with DaveMcCue on percussion. ‘The Art of Happy Accidents’ is the band's first record since 2005 and with a record this strong we can only hope for more to come.

Set for release Monday 2nd November, Zrazy play a collection of shows in October & November 2015 , so if you are in the mood for some Celtic jazz and soul check out the shows.
