Todd Rundgren performing Wizard a True Star – Hammersmith Apollo Sat 6 Feb ‘10

At the time of booking, £50 a ticket seemed a bit steep although, that’s a lot less I guess than some of the ‘classic’ bands are commanding these days however, falling for the USB stick copy of the concert, travel, food (no beer) and the night is costing pretty much the price of a 3 day festival ticket at Green Man. So how would the show stack up?

Todd provided his own support with the guys from the band playing a 40 min blues set from the Robert Johnson songbook. Delivered pretty much in the style of an under rehearsed Garage band, which is not a compliant it was actually petty good!

The main WATS set kicked off around 9.30pm and visually and musically exploded with all its cheesy 70’s extravagance before our very eyes and ears.

Todd’s multi costume changes were slick (as could be) from a Spaceman to …well, what was that he was wearing during the encore? .. I have no idea but, it took guts!
The band superb throughout reproduced this classic album the 1973 album with some style.

A thoroughly entertaining night and I guess, time travel the days, is expensive!
