A memerable gig at Colchester Arts Centre last night from Spiers & Boden, an amazing folk duo.
John Boden plays fiddle and acoustic guitar while John Spiers is on squeezbox and melodium.

John has just been voted (last week) folk singer of the year in the BBC awards.
They both play with Bellowhead who were voted best live group.

Their gig included their own numbers and many traditional songs and jigs given their own special interpretation. I was impressed with their great rich sound and very strong bass beat from John Bodens stomp box and also from John Spiers squeeze box. This must have been helped by the guys who control the sound and do a great job at the Arts Centre.

They are playing in London at the Luminaire this Thursday and John Boden has a solo gig at the Junction in Cambridge on the 30th May.
