Here are my Albums of the Decade. Couldn’t get it down to 20 (there’s 22 in total) – listed below in alphabetical order by artist

- Arctic Monkeys - Whatever People Say I Am, That’s What I’m Not
- The Czars - The Ugly People v The Beautiful People
- The Dandy Warhols - 13 Tales From Urban Bohemia
- The Decemberists - Crane Wife
- Doves - The Last Broadcast
- Ed Harcourt - Here Be Monsters
- Get Cape Wear Cape Fly - Chronicles of a Bohemian Teenager
- Ghosts - The World is Outside
- Hard Fi - Stars of CCTV
- Idlewild - The Remote Part
- Killers - Hot Fuss
- Kings Of Leon - Youth and Young Manhood
- Maps - We Can Create
- Mew - And The Glass Handed Kites
- Morning Runner - Wilderness Is Paradise Now
- Richard Hawley - Coles Corner
- The Rifles - No Love Lost
- Sigur Ros - ( ) - aka 'Brackets'
- The Strokes - Is This It ?
- The Strokes - Room On Fire
- The Thrills - Let's Bottle Bohemia
- Vampire Weekend - Vampire Weekend

Of 22 albums.....
- The Strokes are the only band to have two albums in the list
- 12 are first album released by the band/artist
- a notable exception is The Thrills where I've included their excellent 2nd album. Their 3rd album was in the running too
- in the case of Morning Runner and Ghosts, as well as being their first album it was also their last as they've since split up
- the word Bohemia or Bohemian appears in 3 separate album titles
- artists are split : 18 bands, 4 solo artists - assuming Get Cape and Maps are categorised as singer/ songwriters, alongside Ed Harcourt and Richard Hawley

Geographical split
- 11 British acts
- 8 American acts
- 3 European (Mew, Denmark; Sigur Ros, Iceland; Thrills, Ireland)
- of the 11 British acts 10 are English, 1 Scottish (Idlewild)

My top 20 Albums of the Decade as follows:

Adem - Love & Other Planets
Artic Monkeys - Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not
British Sea Power - Open Season
Coldplay - Parachutes
The Decemberists - Hazards of Love (Album of 2009?)
Editors - The Back Room
Elbow - Leaders Of The Free World
Fleet Foxes - Fleet Foxes
Guillemots - Through The Window Pane
Hot Chip - The Warning
Matchbox 20 - Yourself or Someone Like You
Mew - Frengers
Midlake - Trails of Van Occupanther
Razorlight - Up All Night
Secret Machines - Now Here Is Nowhere
Sigur Ros - ( )
Tapes n Tapes - The Loon
Thirteen Senses - The Invitation
Vampire Weekend - Vampire Weekend.

It's not easy is it? I kinda love every album I listen to particularly in the run up to seeing a new band/singer - then it's on to the next one !! This list is probably my 'most played' in the rack - and that is how I made my selection rather than scroll through the iPod. Good fun.

Just making my list and wanted to check - there are no 'only one album per artist' type rules are there?

I've always wondered how he could have more than one Blueprint...

Well this was so so difficult. What a decade it's been musically! In the end all I could do, was to go with nominating the albums that have been wearing out my turntable over the past ten years.

So here goes ..... in alphabetical order - Second attempt:

Band Title

Arcade Fire Neon Bible

Arctic Monkeys Whatever people say I am, That's What I'm Not

Band of Horses Everything All the Time

Bon Iver For Emma Forever Ago

Centro-Matic Fort Recovery

Elbow Seldom Seen Kid

Great Lake Swimmers Ongairo

Interpol Turn on the Bright Lights

Jakob Dylan Seeing Things

Laura Marling Alas I cannot Swim

Radiohead In Rainbows

Ryan Adams Heartbreaker

Ryan Adams & The Cardinals Cold Roses

Sigur ros Taak

Sun Kil Moon April

The Decemberists The Crane Wife

The National Alligator

The Shins Chutes too Narrow

The Stills Logic with Break your Heart

The Strokes This Is It

Are you going to compile an overall list of these Pete? And how come no-one's been brave enough to rank them in order yet?

Yes will do an overall listing at the end of the year which would drive the 1 - 20 from the number of votes.
