The Shins find Electronica and hit the Disco and , . . . It works!!!
That comparison may be a bit over simplified and this isn’t the Shins but, what we have here, with James Mercer and Dangermouse is the iconic sound of the Shins coupled with, the production and electronic genius of Dangermouse.
First listen it's good, s second listen it's excellent , by the third listen you realise it’s a sublime stonker!
The Shins seemed to disintegrate in arguments last year but, the distinctive voice of James Mercer survives. The opening song ‘The High Road’ is an early contender for song of the year, very infectious indeed. The album has is a lush layer of electronic vibes throughout indeed, by the time we hit ‘the Ghost inside’ we are on the dance floor with the glitter ball twirling!
The record has very much it own identity through a variation of styles and quality songs. This collaboration has certainly struck gold and is a thoroughly recommend buy.
Downside? well it’s only 37 mins long.
