A shaft of musical sunshine burns brightly through these grim winter days via Turin Brakes and their new album, ‘Invisible Storm’ which is release via Cooking Vinyl on Friday 26th January.

The London 4-piece of Olly Knights, Gale Paridjanian, Rob Allum and Eddie Myer have now completed their eighth studio album and with a solid fanbase, this record has the ability to grow that even further. The UK & European tour in March will certainly be a treat with this band having so much material to choose from.

‘Invisible Storm’ was recorded in the legendary Rockfield Studios in Wales and really does have a wide-open feel to the sound. Whether the band are full flow on upbeat, toe tapping songs or, deeply intense via the ballads the record flows beautifully.

‘Would You Be Mine’ is the first song of the record and an instant Turin Brakes classic, energy, rhythm and soul and the second song ‘Wait’ continues in the same way, the listener is hooked.

‘Always’ has a breezy rhythm of a summer’s day and ‘Lost in the Woods’ is just a genuinely sweet song. This is followed by ‘Life Forms’ which has a Steely Dan feel. Title track ‘Invisible Storm is as epic as you would expect.

One album highlight, is ‘Smoke and Mirrors’ is a wonderful ballad, “Computers of the past, the junk from living too fast, A slow pull back, for the big reveal“ and the album closes gently with ‘Don’t Know Much’

Olly Knights: has said that "The idea of an invisible storm came to me as a theme during the end of writing the album, I’ve always loved the quote “everyone you meet is fighting their own war, so be kind”. Invisible Storm is very much coming from that sentiment, that we are all at the mercy of our own internal weather systems despite outward appearances that may paint different pictures".

"This album tries to trace a line between these tense internal struggles and what’s happening outside of ourselves. Perhaps even suggesting a link between the invisible storms of our inner worlds and the outer tensions and social and political storms that seem to be sweeping the world these days.”

The UK tour has a date at the London Palladium, which truly reflects the status this fine band have found. An exceptionally hard working band who have produced another gem.
